Frequently asked questions
- What is a Monte Carlo retirement simulation?
- We run hundreds of random return paths around your assumed average and volatility. Each path draws an independent return every year (true sequence-of-returns risk), then we count how many keep funding spending to your plan age. Work runs in a background worker so the page stays responsive.
- Why does the fan chart look the same every time?
- Results are deterministic for a given seed and inputs (default seed 42). Use “New seed & run” for a different sample, or change the seed field. Same seed always reproduces the same fan chart.
- Does higher success probability guarantee success?
- No. It is a model of market sequence risk only — not inflation shocks, longevity, health costs, or policy changes.
